Our Review Process
We are committed to a review process that is swift, transparent, and rigorous. Our unique human-AI approach ensures that your work is evaluated fairly on its scientific merit. Here is what you can expect after submission:
Initial Triage
Your manuscript first undergoes an administrative blind check by the editorial team. We verify that it fits the journal’s scope, is properly anonymized for double-blind review, and meets all submission requirements. Submissions that pass this stage typically move to peer review within 48 hours.
Blind Peer Review
The manuscript is assigned to independent expert reviewers. Our system helps us identify and contact the best-matched reviewers quickly. The entire process is blind, meaning neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other’s identities
Editorial Decision
The handling editor evaluates the reviewer reports and makes a decision. We are committed to providing a first decision within 7 days of submission. The possible outcomes are: Accept- The manuscript is ready for publication; Revision Required – The manuscript has potential but requires minor or major changes; Reject – The manuscript is not accepted for publication.
Revision and Publication
If revisions are requested, you will be invited to resubmit an updated manuscript addressing the reviewers’ comments. Once your article is formally accepted, it will be professionally typeset and published online immediately.
Preparing Your Blinded Manuscript
To ensure a double-blind review, the blinded version of your manuscript must not contain any author names, affiliations, or acknowledgments. Please also cite your own previous work in the third person.
We recognize that perfect anonymization can be difficult if your work requires linking to public code or data repositories. While we ask you to avoid prominently displaying your identity in those repositories, we trust our reviewers to be professional and to evaluate the submission based on its scientific merit alone, regardless of authorship.
AI Co-Authoring & CARs
Gauge Freedom Journal is an early adopter of verifiable AI assistance in research. When AI tools (language models, code assistants, etc.) play a substantial role in your work, we ask you to:
- Describe their role in the AI Contributions Statement.
- When possible, attach Content-Addressable Receipts (CARs) or similar provenance artifacts that document how key AI outputs were generated (model, prompt, inputs).
These receipts allow reviewers and readers to audit and reproduce AI-assisted steps without guessing, and help establish good practice for transparent human+AI collaboration.
